AN ELEGY

On the death of Capt. Ezekiel Dennis, a brother, who was
slain in forcing the enemy's redoubts at Penobscot
(Massachusetts Bay).
  Sad tidings sure!--is he in battle slain?
  The pride, the glory of Columbia's train.
  O tell it not to our inhuman foes,
  Least they exult, and triumph in our woes;
